Presentation Night

TEKA would like to thank everyone that attended the presentation night. What a great night and terrific venue. Its always good to see everyone in their good gear and out of their race suits for a change! If you have any photos from the evening please email them in!

The calendar for 09 is out!!

Absolutely fantastic, check out the 2009 Calendar here! For those who were at the Presentation we’re sorry for suggesting we would consider a round on Mother’s Day. The women in our lives are extremely important and they deserve their day! The Canberra event will now be held on Saturday 9th May.

AGM and fun night

The AGM meeting will be held on the 24th January at Picton Kart Track, along with licensing and karting fun (ask anyone who came last time)! It’s important to remember that ALL positions are available for nomination and TEKA really needs the competitors support so have a think about how you could get involved. The AGM kicks off at 4pm everyone is welcome. After that there will be some licensing both new and renewals, and karting for all with the track exclusively available (for 4 stroke Endurance karts only) from 5pm to 10pm, along with a BBQ throughout the evening!

The cost will only be a flat fee of $50 per kart for the afternoon with no further track license costs.

Please make your nominations by downloading a Nomination Form and returning to TEKA prior to the AGM if possible.

Fuel for 09’

Due to the hazard of carrying fuel and government requirements, next year fuel will be brought to the track by competitors. They will purchase approved containers from TEKA at $20 each. Before each round competitors will be informed how much fuel is to be bought and which service station it’s to be bought from.

Honda Engines - time for a rebuild?

For competitors planning to run Hondas (in case you don’t know) you can purchase engines at any Honda dealer (or 2nd hand through the series) and have them sealed by one of these sealers.

posted 3 Dec 08 TEKA '09 Calendar – soon to be released!

The 2009 calendar is just about confirmed. The really exciting news is, there are two tracks (all time favorites) that TEKA didn’t race on in '08, and one other that we’ve never been to before! The series has been created with the members in mind providing a good variety of tracks while keeping many within a reasonable distance from Sydney (in most cases). The length of time between rounds again is as long as possible allowing those who need it, heaps of time for other things.

Loads of interest from new drivers and teams, the introduction of a number of Animal powered karts, along with a huge contingent of Honda’s! The calendar will be presented for the first time at this Saturday nights Presentation and will be available on the website soon after….stay tuned!

posted 19 Nov 08 The Final is here!

Oran Park will be open from 6am this Saturday and it’s vitally important all teams be on time. With a 5 hour race the schedule is tight. Please come with all the paper work filled out and your kart prepared ready for scrutineering.

Could be some showers on the way, so remember to pack those wets! and keep an eye on the Weather Forecast.

Also we would like to know who is coming to the Presentation Night on Saturday at the latest! We hope everyone can make it! It’s going to be a big one, the previous years have been great fun, so come along and enjoy.

The calendar is taking shape for '09 and will be heavily local based with plenty of time between rounds again and two trips away to a couple of our favorite tracks. So stay tuned and if there is anyone interest in taking part who is not already involved feel free to give Justin a call 0417 330229.

Also current members with karts for sale, we are experiencing a good number of enquiries for next year from people who are interested in buying karts so expect some calls and bear in mind the more helpful and realistic your are at the moment the more likely you’ll achieve a result!

posted 21 Sep 08 It's Business Time... Round 7 - Newcastle

Many are looking forward to a solid 7 hour race around Newcastle, and so they should be! To make the weekend even more pleasurable for competitors, TEKA has arranged a couple of extras.

A roast will be served at the track after qualifying on Saturday late afternoon. We'll endevour to make it early enough so that teams who are staying else-where can pack up and enjoy a couple of light ales and a great feed before they go, without having to wait around too long.

Those who have experienced it before know what a great feed it is! Keep an eye out on the entry form to nominate how many you'll have wanting to eat with us.

There is the opportunity to hang around the track and relax, have a few drinks enjoy the company. If anyone is thinking of staying at the track there is a number of us who will be inside the facility when the gates are locked (seeing as we're not allowed to refer to it as camping).

For those who want something more substantial, we have put aside ten self contained apartments (which sleep four) at Jesmond Villas, and five two bedroom's at Macquarie Serviced Apartments Cardiff. Ring Jesmond or Macquarie on Ph. 02 4955 5888 and let them know you’re from TEKA and would like to confirm a room.

Entry Forms and Supplementary Regulations for Round 7 at Newcastle are now available.

Check out the Newcastle track page for all details of the event, accomodation links, directions and an up to date weather forecast.

posted 21 Sep 08Down to Business - Lithgow Race report

As much fun as all the competitors involved in the TEKA Endurance Series have, this is the business end of the season. Round 6 was crucial for a number of teams, for others it's just an excuse to get away with friends and family and spend a good 10 hours of track time on one of the country's best go kart tracks.

Read all about it in the latest Race Report from Round 6 at Lithgow.

posted 26 Jul 08 Count Down!

Grand Final – great news, we have made an alteration to the calendar to provide a home Grand Final. TEKA is always interested in it’s members feedback. In respect to this event we have been open to feedback from teams and drivers. The huge amount of interest in local rounds this year as opposed to the away ones is also a reflection of what the members prefer.

Oran Park will host the Grand Final for 08’ on the 22nd November (the same date already allocated to the final round). We continue to experience a huge amount of interest in the local races and it’s important to make the epic final round as accessible as possible.

Lithgow - there is plenty of time to prepare, repair, practice, test, or simply forget karting for a while and relax. It’s bound to be an exciting round, the first round of the run to the final! It will be run as a single day event with practice, qualifying and the races all on Sunday making it easier for some. For anyone who would like to make a weekend of it and practice on Saturday the track is open. Lithgow is well located just an hour and a half from Sydney, camping may be allowed and there is reasonably priced motel accommodation at the end of the street.

TEKA had decided to mix up the formats this year and with a 7hr at Newcastle following this round Lithgow presented the opportunity for a change. A couple of reasons for the format -

  1. a smaller less technical track lends itself to a shorter race distance
  2. the most exciting parts of our races are the start and the run to the finish, why not experience that twice
  3. if anyone has a failure of some sort their weekend is not lost, they have another chance to enjoy the racing and grab some points

Can’t wait!!
